Kinross Brazil receives prestigious award
The International Network for Acid Prevention (INAP) selected Kinross operation in Paracatu, Brasil, to receive the first international award for the implementation of best practice in the identification, planning and management of potentially reactive geologic materials at a mining site. The award will be formally presented to Kinross Brasil at the 11th International Conference on Acid Rock Drainage (ICARD) in Pretoria, South Africa September 10-14, 2018.
INAP promotes the effective management of potentially reactive geologic materials through the development of best practice guidance (www.gardguide.com), support for research, information dissemination at conferences such as ICARD, and now recognition of a mining site with the best implemented practices to prevent and manage acid rock drainage. INAP found Kinross Brasil’s operations in Paracatu to exemplify global best practice and deserve international recognition.
